How to use the page border maker

1. Pick a Border style: Solid, Double, Dashed, Dotted, Groove or Corner ornaments.
2. Set the Thickness with the slider, from 0.5 to 6 mm, and choose a Colour.
3. Type a Title (optional) such as “Notice” or “Menu”, or clear it for an untitled page.
4. Tick Ruled lines for writing lines, then set the Line spacing between 5 and 15 mm.
5. Choose Orientation and Paper size (A4 or US Letter), then press Print / Save as PDF above the preview.

What it does and when to use it

A border makes a plain sheet look finished. Teachers use bordered, lined pages for best-copy writing and display work; offices use them for notices on a door or noticeboard; families use them for recipe cards, menus, house rules or a child’s certificate. The ruled option turns the page into framed writing paper.

How it works

The page is drawn at the exact paper size with no printer margin. A frame is placed 10 mm inside each edge, with 8 mm of padding at the top and bottom and 10 mm at the sides inside the frame. The border style and colour are applied to that frame with standard CSS borders, which every browser can print.

The title, if any, is centred near the top in 20 pt type in the border colour. Ruled lines fill the rest of the frame: each line is a light grey stripe 0.25 mm thick, repeating at the spacing you choose. For Corner ornaments, a thin frame is drawn with an L-shaped design and dot in each corner, mirrored so all four face inwards.

Worked examples

A notice page (the preset). Double border, 1.5 mm, dark blue, title “Notice”, portrait A4. The frame gets a double border about 2.4 mm wide (1.5 × 1.6) and the title is printed in the same blue.

Lined writing paper. Dashed border at 3 mm, no title, ruled lines at 7 mm. Each line is drawn as a 0.25 mm grey stripe that ends at 7 mm, so the pattern is:

Limits and tips

• One page per print. Print several copies from the print window if you need a stack.
• Dotted and dashed borders look different from browser to browser, because each browser draws the dots and dashes its own way.
• Set the print scale to 100% so the frame keeps an even distance from each edge.
