ToolsRift explains every tool: how to use it, what it does, the method or formula behind it, worked examples, limits and frequently asked questions. This page describes how that writing is produced and checked.
Who writes the pages
ToolsRift is run by the owner of ToolsRift. Pages are drafted with AI assistance and checked by automated tests; pages marked "Reviewed by the owner" have been personally reviewed. We do not invent authors, reviewers, experts or credentials. A "Reviewed by" line appears only when the page has actually been read and approved by that person.
How content is checked
- Worked examples are computed, not typed. Every example on a tool page is run through the same code the tool uses, in our test suite, and the page must match the computed result.
- No invented numbers. We do not publish usage counters, ratings, reviews or statistics that are not measured or sourced. Star ratings in search results appear only when at least 20 real visitors have rated a tool.
- Plain, honest language. We avoid hype ("best", "#1", "100% accurate") and say clearly what a tool cannot do.
- Unique pages. Similar tools (for example different file-size targets) each explain their own situation instead of repeating text.
Money, health, legal and exam pages
Pages that could affect your money, health, legal position or an application ("your money or your life" topics) cite primary sources — government, regulators, official exam portals and payment-provider documentation — with the date we accessed them, and show when the figures were last verified. If a figure such as a tax rate or a fee cannot be verified from an official source, the page is kept out of search results and carries no adverts until it is fixed. These pages always include a "not advice" notice.
Advertising and independence
ToolsRift earns money only from adverts shown by Google AdSense. Advertisers do not pay for or influence what we write, which tools we recommend, or the results tools produce. Adverts are labelled "Advertisement" and kept away from tool buttons and results.
Updates and corrections
Each page shows when it was last updated. If you spot an error, please use "Report a problem" at the bottom of the tool page or email hello@toolsrift.com. We correct factual errors promptly and update the date.
