How to use the cool symbols tool

1. Open Category and choose a group, or keep All symbols to see everything.
2. Find the symbol you want in the list.
3. Tap the small copy button next to it, or use Copy all to grab the whole group.
4. Paste it into your message, name, document or design.

What it does and when to use it

Most keyboards hide symbols like →, ✓, ₹ or ♫ several menus deep. This page gathers useful ones in one place: arrows for instructions and slides, ticks and bullets for lists, currency signs for prices, maths signs for homework, and kaomoji faces for chats. Symbols are single characters, so they paste anywhere text is accepted.

To frame text with line characters, use Unicode text art. To add emoji after matching words automatically, try text to emoji; for a surprise pick, the random emoji generator.

How it works

The symbols are a fixed list stored in the page’s code, drawn from many Unicode blocks: Arrows and Supplemental Arrows-A, Miscellaneous Symbols, Dingbats, Mathematical Operators, Currency Symbols, Geometric Shapes and, for the coloured ones, the emoji blocks. Choosing a category only filters which lists are shown; nothing is generated or fetched.

Worked examples

From the tool’s own output:

• Currency lists 24 signs, including ₹ (Indian rupee), ₩ (won), ₺ (Turkish lira) and ₿ (bitcoin).
• Kaomoji includes the table flip (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ and the put-it-back reply ┬─┬ノ( º _ ºノ).
• Arrows includes paired arrows such as ⇄ and ⇅ for swaps and sorting.

Limits and tips

• Mind the listener. A screen reader names each symbol, so ★ may be read as “black star”, and a kaomoji becomes a long run of character names such as “left parenthesis, degree sign…”. Use one symbol where a word would do, not as a replacement for the word.
• Symbols in names and passwords may be rejected by some sites.
• Everything is on the page already; nothing is uploaded or downloaded.
