SSC signature resizer — 6.0 × 2.0 cm, 10 to 20 KB, JPEG

This tool turns a photo or scan of your signature into a 10–20 KB JPEG of about 6.0 × 2.0 cm, the signature rules in the SSC CGL 2025 notice, without uploading it.

How to use SSC Signature Resizer

  1. Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, and take a sharp photo or scan of it.
  2. Choose the image. The tool shows the target: 472 × 157 px, 10–20 KB, JPEG, 200 DPI.
  3. Under Fit to the size, choose Fit with white margins if your signature does not already fill a wide 3 : 1 box. Choose Crop to fill if you have cropped it closely.
  4. Keep which part when cropping is set to Centre, which suits signatures. Change it only if your signature sits near the top or bottom of the image.
  5. Tick If the file is below the minimum KB, pad it so the file cannot fall under 10 KB.
  6. Press Resize for upload, check the table, and download the file ending in -ssc-signature-signature.jpg.

The official rules (checked 2026-10-02)

From section 9.6 of the Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2025 notice:

Rule What the notice says What the tool makes
Format JPEG/JPG JPEG
File size 10 to 20 KB 10 to 20 KB
Dimension About 6.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm high 472 × 157 px with 200 DPI written in
Quality Blurred or miniature signatures are rejected Not checked by the tool; see the tips below

SSC gives no pixel size. At 200 DPI, 472 px is 5.99 cm and 157 px is 1.99 cm, which round to the stated 6.0 × 2.0 cm.

Every SSC examination has its own notice. Check the signature section of the notice for your exam before you upload; the figures may change.

What it does and when to use it

A signature is a small upload, but it is easy to get wrong. A raw phone photo of a signature is far above 20 KB, and a heavily cropped one can be below 10 KB. Many people also send a signature that is tiny inside a large white image, which is exactly the “miniature” problem the notice warns about.

This page makes a wide, short signature image at a fixed size, writes the print resolution into it, and fits the file into the 10–20 KB window. It is meant for:

  • the signature upload in SSC applications that follow the CGL 2025 rules,
  • re-doing a signature that the portal rejected for size,
  • people who want to avoid uploading a signature to an unknown website.

How it works

The tool runs inside your browser, in a worker thread.

  1. Read. Your image is decoded upright, and any transparency is filled with white.
  2. Shape. The target is a 3 : 1 rectangle. With Crop to fill, the tool cuts the largest 3 : 1 area, centred. With Fit with white margins, it shrinks the whole image to fit inside 472 × 157 px and fills the rest with white.
  3. Exact size. The result is scaled to 472 × 157 px.
  4. File size. The JPEG is saved at the highest quality that is no more than 20 KB, searching down to 30% if needed. The pixel size never changes.
  5. Minimum. If the file is under 10 KB, the tool pads it (when ticked) or tells you.
  6. DPI. 200 DPI is written into the JPEG, so it prints at the stated centimetres.

Worked examples

These sizes come from the tool’s own geometry functions.

A signature cropped to 3,000 × 1,000 px. That is already 3 : 1, so Crop to fill keeps almost everything (a 998 px tall band) and scales it to 472 × 157 px. The 74,104-pixel image is mostly white, so the JPEG may be under 10 KB; padding takes care of that.

A long signature of 2,400 × 600 px, with Fit with white margins. The signature is 4 : 1, longer than the box. It is shrunk to 472 × 118 px, with white bands above and below. Nothing is cut.

A signature photographed on an A4 page. With Crop to fill, the 3 : 1 band would span the whole width of the page, and the signature would sit small in the middle, a “miniature” signature. Crop close to the ink first with the Signature Extractor, then use this page.

Making a signature SSC will accept

  • Sign larger than usual. At 6 cm wide, a signature should stretch across most of the box.
  • Plain white paper, dark ink. Avoid lined paper and pencil.
  • Good, even light. Daylight from a window works well. Avoid your own shadow over the paper.
  • Straight from above. Hold the phone parallel to the paper so the signature is not slanted.
  • Crop close. Remove empty paper so the signature fills the frame.
  • Check it on screen. Open the final file and zoom in. If the strokes look broken or fuzzy, re-take the photo.

Limits and tips

  • Clarity is your job. The tool checks the size and file size, not whether the signature is sharp enough.
  • Padding is invisible. It changes the byte count only.
  • Other SSC uploads. We could not confirm an official upload size for the SSC photo, because the CGL 2025 notice describes a live photo taken during the application. Follow the latest notice for photos.
  • Rules change. Figures were checked on 2026-10-02. Always confirm them in the latest SSC notice.
  • Other signature limits. For bank forms, see the IBPS Photo & Signature Resizer; for the PAN form, the PAN Card Photo & Signature Resizer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SSC signature size?
Section 9.6 of the SSC CGL 2025 notice asks for a scanned signature in JPEG/JPG, 10 to 20 KB, with an image dimension of about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high. Checked on 2026-10-02.
Why 472 × 157 pixels?
SSC gives the size in centimetres, not pixels. The tool makes 472 × 157 px and writes 200 DPI into the file. At 200 DPI that prints at 6.0 × 2.0 cm, to the nearest millimetre.
My signature file is only 6 KB. Will SSC accept it?
No, 10 KB is the minimum. A clean signature at this size can easily come out smaller. Tick the padding option and the tool adds empty bytes to reach 10 KB; the picture stays exactly the same.
What about the SSC photo?
The CGL 2025 notice describes a live photograph captured in the application itself, not an uploaded photo. We could not confirm an upload size for an SSC photo, so ToolsRift does not offer one. Follow the latest notice.
Why was my signature rejected as blurred?
The notice says blurred or miniature signatures are rejected. Sign larger, photograph in good light, and crop close to the ink before resizing, so the signature fills the 6 × 2 cm box.
Can I draw my signature with a mouse instead?
The notice asks for a scanned signature, so signing on paper and taking a photo or scan of it is the closest match. A signature drawn with a mouse often looks quite different from the one you sign on paper, and you may be asked to sign by hand later in the process.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. It is processed in your browser and saved directly to your device.
