RRB NTPC signature resizer — 140 × 60 px, 30 to 49 KB, JPEG

This tool turns a photo or scan of your signature into a JPEG of 140 × 60 pixels between 30 and 49 KB, the signature rules in RRB's NTPC notices CEN 06/2026 and CEN 07/2026.

How to use RRB NTPC Signature Resizer

  1. Sign on plain white paper with a black ink pen, in your usual running hand, and take a sharp photo or scan of it.
  2. Choose the image. The tool shows the target: 140 × 60 px, 30–49 KB, JPEG, 100 DPI.
  3. Under Fit to the size, choose Fit with white margins unless you have already cropped the signature to a wide 7 : 3 box; then Crop to fill works too.
  4. Keep which part when cropping starts on Centre, which suits signatures. Change it only if your signature sits near the top or bottom of the image.
  5. Tick If the file is below the minimum KB, pad it. At this pixel size the file will be under 30 KB without it.
  6. Press Resize for upload, read the Check against the rules table, and download the file.

The official rules (checked 2026-10-21)

From para 14.5.1 of Centralised Employment Notification No. 06/2026, Non-Technical Popular Categories (Graduate), published by the Railway Recruitment Boards. CEN No. 07/2026 (Under Graduate) repeats the same signature rules.

Rule What the CEN says What the tool makes
Format JPG/JPEG only JPEG
File size Between 30 KB and 49 KB 30–49 KB (padded if needed)
Pixels Minimum 140 px wide × 60 px high 140 × 60 px
Scan resolution Minimum 100 DPI 100 DPI written into the file
Ink and paper Black ink pen on white paper Not checked; your responsibility
Writing Running handwriting, not block, capital or disjointed letters Not checked; your responsibility
Position Centred in the scan box on the form, 35 mm × 20 mm Signature centred when you use Fit with white margins

The CEN lists these as grounds for rejecting an application: someone else’s signature, a non-white background, non-black ink, block or capital letters, a poor or unclear image, a partly visible signature, a different image, a blank, or a thumb impression in place of the signature. Some candidates with benchmark disabilities who cannot sign may upload a finger or thumb print instead; the CEN sets out the order. The signature must also match the ones you give at the exams, document verification, medical examination and appointment.

No photo upload. Para 14.4 says candidates do not upload an existing photograph. A live photo is captured in the application, against a pure plain white background, with the head filling at least half of the frame and no cap, mask or glasses.

Application dates. CEN 06/2026 (Graduate): 08.10.2026 to 06.11.2026 (23:59 hours), fee payment until 08.11.2026, modification window 09.11.2026 to 18.11.2026. CEN 07/2026 (Under Graduate): 15.10.2026 to 13.11.2026 (23:59 hours), fee payment until 15.11.2026, modification window 16.11.2026 to 25.11.2026.

What it does and when to use it

The NTPC signature has an unusual pair of rules: a small minimum size and a high minimum file size. A clean signature photographed on a phone and shrunk to 140 × 60 px comes out far below 30 KB, and raising the JPEG quality alone cannot close that gap.

This page makes the exact pixel size, keeps the JPEG inside 30–49 KB, writes 100 DPI into the file, and shows a table that checks the result against the CEN.

Use it when you are:

  • filling the NTPC Graduate or Under Graduate form before it closes,
  • replacing a signature that the portal refused for its size,
  • correcting your signature during the modification window.

How it works

Your signature stays on your device; a worker in the browser does all the work.

  1. Opening. The image is decoded, upright, with any transparency turned white.
  2. Shaping. With Fit with white margins, the whole image is shrunk to fit inside 140 × 60 px and centred, with white filling the rest. With Crop to fill, the tool cuts the largest 7 : 3 area and scales it.
  3. Saving. The JPEG is saved at top quality with 100 DPI in the file header. If it were above 49 KB the tool would lower the quality, which is very unlikely at this size.
  4. Reaching 30 KB. With padding ticked, empty bytes are added after the image data until the file is at least 30 KB. The picture is unchanged.

The arithmetic behind step 4: 140 × 60 is 8,400 pixels, and at 3 bytes per pixel that is 25,200 bytes even with no compression. The minimum is 30 KB (30,720 bytes), so in practice a JPEG of this size needs padding to reach it.

Worked examples

These crops are from the tool’s own geometry function.

A cleaned signature of 1,500 × 500 px, with Fit with white margins. It is shrunk to 140 × 47 px and centred, with white strips above and below.

A signature of 1,200 × 600 px, with Fit with white margins. It becomes 120 × 60 px, centred, with white strips on the left and right.

A signature photographed on a full page, 4,032 × 3,024 px, with Crop to fill. The tool keeps the full width and a 1,728 px band starting 648 px from the top (Centre). If your signature is outside that band it is lost, so crop close to the ink first or use Fit with white margins.

Preparing the signature

  • Sign with a black ink pen on plain white paper, in joined running writing, the way you will sign at the exam.
  • Sign at a comfortable size and leave a little white space around it.
  • Photograph in daylight without shadows, holding the phone parallel to the paper.
  • Crop close to the ink with the Signature Extractor before you use this page.

Limits and tips

  • The tool does not judge your signature. It sets size, format and file size. Ink colour, legibility and handwriting style are for you to check.
  • Padding is not extra quality. It only adds bytes so the file meets the 30 KB minimum.
  • Larger images are allowed. 140 × 60 px is the CEN’s minimum. For a bigger image within 30–49 KB, use Resize Image in KB and Pixels.
  • Rules change. Figures were checked on 2026-10-21. Always confirm them in the latest CEN on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in before you submit.
  • Other exams. For SSC forms, see the SSC Signature Resizer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RRB NTPC signature size?
Para 14.5.1 of CEN 06/2026 (Graduate) asks for a JPG/JPEG between 30 KB and 49 KB, at least 140 pixels wide and 60 pixels high, scanned at a minimum of 100 DPI. CEN 07/2026 (Under Graduate) gives the same figures. Checked on 2026-10-21.
Do I need to upload a photo for RRB NTPC?
No. Para 14.4 says candidates do not upload a pre-existing photograph. The application captures a live photo by webcam or phone camera, against a plain white background. That is why this page handles only the signature.
Why does my signature need padding to reach 30 KB?
At 140 × 60 px the picture has 8,400 pixels. Even stored with no compression at all, that is 25,200 bytes, less than 30 KB, and a JPEG of a signature is normally far smaller. So at this size you will almost always need padding to reach 30 KB. Tick the padding option; it adds empty bytes and leaves the picture unchanged.
Can I use a larger image instead of padding?
The CEN gives 140 × 60 px as a minimum, not an exact size, so a larger image is within the rule as long as the file stays between 30 and 49 KB. Use Resize Image in KB and Pixels with your chosen size and 30–49 KB.
Can I sign in capital letters?
No. The CEN asks for running handwriting and lists block or capital letters as a ground for rejection, along with a non-white background, non-black ink and an unclear or partly visible signature.
When does the NTPC application close?
CEN 06/2026 (Graduate) is open from 08.10.2026 to 06.11.2026 (23:59 hours). CEN 07/2026 (Under Graduate) is open from 15.10.2026 to 13.11.2026 (23:59 hours). Applications are made on rrbapply.gov.in.
Is my signature uploaded to ToolsRift?
No. It is processed in your browser and saved straight to your device.
