How to use the square text generator

  1. Type or paste your word into Your text.
  2. Choose a Style: Outline πŸ„° for hollow boxes or Filled πŸ…° for solid tiles.
  3. Read the result under Styled text. Letters become squares; numbers, spaces and symbols stay normal.
  4. Press Copy and paste it into your post or name field.

What it does and when to use it

Squared letters look like keys or tiles, so they suit short labels: a channel name, a β€œπŸ„½πŸ„΄πŸ…†β€ tag, a game clan name or a heading in a list. Short words work best because each square is wide; a full sentence becomes very long and tiring to read.

Related shapes are a click away. Circles are in the bubble text generator and its solid twin, the negative circled text tool. Letters in brackets are in the parenthesized text generator. For colourful emoji-style squares with matching number keycaps, see the emoji letters generator.

How it works

Both styles come from the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block (U+1F100–U+1F1FF):

Style Characters Code points
Outline πŸ„° to πŸ…‰ U+1F130–U+1F149
Filled πŸ…° to πŸ†‰ U+1F170–U+1F189

The tool looks up each A–Z or a–z in a table and swaps it for the matching square. Anything not in the table, including digits, accented letters and punctuation, is copied unchanged.

Worked examples

Outputs from the tool’s own function:

  • Stop 24/7, Outline β†’ πŸ…‚πŸ…ƒπŸ„ΎπŸ„Ώ 24/7. The time stays plain because there are no squared digits.
  • Stop 24/7, Filled β†’ πŸ†‚πŸ†ƒπŸ…ΎπŸ…Ώ 24/7. On some phones the πŸ…Ύ and πŸ…Ώ may show in colour.
  • Sos, Outline β†’ πŸ…‚πŸ„ΎπŸ…‚. Lowercase and capitals end up identical.

Limits and tips

  • Hard to read for some people. Screen readers often skip these symbols or read each one by name, such as β€œsquared Latin capital letter S”. Search and hashtags will not match them to normal words. Keep important words and names in plain letters.
  • Character counts. Each square is a single code point but two units in many counters, so limits fill up faster.
  • Font coverage varies most on older systems; check the result on the device your audience uses.
  • The conversion happens on your device and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why is everything in capitals?
Unicode only defines squared capital letters. The tool maps lowercase letters to the same capital squares, so "Sos" and "SOS" give the same result.
Can I put numbers in squares?
Not with this set. There are no squared digits to match these letters, so 0–9 stay as normal digits. For digits in shapes, try the bubble text generator, which has circled numbers.
Why do some filled letters look like emoji?
Filled A, B, O and P (πŸ…° πŸ…± πŸ…Ύ πŸ…Ώ) are also emoji, used for blood types and parking. Some phones draw those four in colour while the other letters stay black, so a word can look uneven.
Do squared letters work in usernames?
Most platforms reject them in handles. Many allow them in display names, captions and messages.
Why do I see empty rectangles instead of squares?
The device has no font with these characters. That is common on older Windows or Android versions. The text itself is correct; it will appear on devices that have the font.
