Frequently asked questions
How is a weighted grade worked out?
Each score is converted to a percentage, multiplied by its weight, and the results are added together and divided by the total weight used. That means a 90% on a piece worth 40% of the course counts four times as much as a 90% on a piece worth 10%.
What if my weights do not add up to 100?
The calculator divides by the total weight you actually entered, so partial weights still give a correct average of the work completed so far. It also tells you how much of the course weight is still outstanding.
Can I change the letter grade boundaries?
Yes. The grade scale is editable, so you can use your own institution's cut-offs rather than the common A/B/C/D/F ninety-eighty-seventy scale that is set by default.
