VO2 max is the maximum volume of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise, measured in ml/kg/min. A higher value indicates better aerobic fitness.
It uses the distance run in 12 minutes: VO2 max ≈ (distance in metres − 504.9) / 44.73. The farther you run, the higher your estimated VO2 max.
Field estimates are approximations and can differ from a lab test. Use them to track your own progress over time rather than as an exact clinical figure.
