Frequently asked questions

How is blood pressure classified?

Readings use systolic over diastolic. Common categories are normal, elevated, and stage 1 and stage 2 hypertension, with very high readings flagged as a crisis.

What do systolic and diastolic mean?

Systolic is the top number, the pressure when the heart beats, and diastolic is the bottom number, the pressure between beats when the heart rests.

Is this a diagnosis?

No. This tool only classifies a single reading against standard ranges. Diagnosing high blood pressure needs repeated measurements and a doctor's assessment.
