How to use Italic Text Generator
- Type or paste your text.
- Copy the italic version.
- Use it for a short phrase, not a whole post.
- Only letters convert; punctuation and digits pass through unchanged.
- Unsearchable and poorly announced by screen readers.
- Use the platform’s own italics wherever they exist.
Characters, not styling
The output uses the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, encoded so that an italic variable in a formula is distinguishable from an upright one. Because the slant is part of the character rather than applied by markup, it survives a paste into LinkedIn, Instagram or X — none of which offer italics in posts, which is the whole reason these are used.
The accessibility and search cost
Screen readers handle these badly, often announcing each character by its formal Unicode name, and the text is invisible to search — platform search included. Since italics usually mark emphasis or a title, the cost lands precisely on the words that mattered. Keep names, keywords and calls to action in plain text and use the styling for a short decorative phrase.
Prefer real formatting where it exists
Slack, Discord, WhatsApp and Notion all support markdown-style italics, which are announced correctly and indexed properly. Reaching for Unicode characters on a platform that already has italics trades function for nothing. Use these only where the platform genuinely offers no alternative.
