How to use the random date generator
- Set From and To. Both dates are part of the draw.
- Enter How many dates you need, from 1 to 1,000.
- Leave No repeats ticked to get different dates, and Sort by date to list them in calendar order.
- Tick Weekdays only to skip Saturdays and Sundays.
- Press Generate. Each date is shown as year-month-day with its weekday, for example 2026-06-17 (Wednesday).
What it does and when to use it
Use it to pick a surprise date night in the next three months, schedule random spot checks or audits, choose test dates for a spreadsheet, set a mystery deadline for a class challenge, or seed sample data with realistic dates. The weekday next to each date saves you looking it up.
To count the days between the dates you get, use the date difference calculator. For a time of day to go with each date, add the random time generator. For plain numbers, the random number generator works the same way.
How it works
Each date is turned into a day count, so the range From to To becomes a list of whole numbers. The tool then picks a number with crypto.getRandomValues, using rejection sampling so every day in the range has exactly the same chance. A leap day is just one more day in the list.
With Weekdays only, the tool first builds a list of every Monday to Friday in the range and draws from that list instead. With No repeats, it keeps drawing and skips dates it already has until it reaches your number. Sort by date only changes the order, not which dates were picked.
Worked examples
A one-day range. From and To both 2026-12-25, How many 1: the only possible result is 2026-12-25 (Friday). It is a quick way to check the weekday of a date.
One working week, all of it. From 2026-10-05 to 2026-10-11 with Weekdays only, How many 5, No repeats and Sort by date ticked. That week has exactly five weekdays, so the list is always Monday 5 October to Friday 9 October, in order.
A weekend. From 2026-10-10 to 2026-10-11 with Weekdays only ticked returns “There are no weekdays in this range.”
Limits and tips
- Dates use the Gregorian calendar and the YYYY-MM-DD format.
- Weekdays only means Monday to Friday; working days that differ by country, such as a Sunday-to-Thursday week, are not supported. The business days calculator counts working days between two dates.
- Without No repeats, the same date can appear more than once.
- Everything runs in your browser.
