Are weekends excluded?

Yes. Only Monday through Friday are counted; Saturdays and Sundays are skipped. Both the start and end dates are included in the count if they are weekdays.

Does it account for public holidays?

No — it counts standard Monday–Friday working days only. Public holidays vary by country and are not deducted.

What is a business day used for?

Business days are used for delivery windows, payment terms, legal notice periods and service-level agreements where weekends do not count.
