How to use the Etsy fee calculator
- Choose Where your bank account is. This sets the payment processing fee, any Regulatory Operating fee and the currency of the results.
- Enter the Item price, the Shipping charged to the buyer and any Gift wrap or personalisation charge.
- US sellers: add the US sales tax collected from the buyer if you want it in the processing fee.
- If the order came through an Offsite Ad, pick the 15% or 12% rate under Offsite Ads.
- Enter your Cost to make or buy the item and Your actual shipping cost. Outside the US, add 1 US dollar in your currency to convert the listing fee.
- Read the profit, margin and each fee, and check the breakdown table to see what each fee was charged on.
What it does and when to use it
Etsy charges several small fees on each sale. Each one is modest, but they stack up: on the $25 example below they take 11% of what the buyer pays, and 26% if the sale came through Offsite Ads. This calculator lays them out one by one so you can price with real numbers.
It is useful when you:
- set prices for a new listing and want a clear profit per order;
- decide how much to charge for shipping, knowing fees apply to it;
- check what an Offsite Ads sale really earns;
- sell from outside the US and need your country’s processing and regulatory fees.
If you also sell on other marketplaces, compare the same product with the Amazon FBA fee calculator or the eBay fee calculator.
How it works
The calculator follows Etsy’s Fees & Payments Policy and Etsy Payments Policy as published on 3 October 2026:
- Listing fee: 0.20 USD for each listing and each renewal (including the automatic renewal after each sale of a multi-quantity listing). Etsy converts it to your payment account currency.
- Transaction fee: 6.5% × (item price + shipping + gift wrap). US sellers do not pay it on sales tax. Outside the US your listing price should already include any VAT, so the fee applies to it.
- Payment processing fee: your country’s percentage × (order total including tax and shipping) + a fixed amount per order.
- Offsite Ads fee: 15% or 12% × (item price + shipping + gift wrap), up to 100 USD per order.
- Currency conversion fee: 2.5% of the sale if you list in a currency different from your payment account.
- Regulatory Operating fee: a set percentage of item price plus shipping in Canada, France, Hungary, Italy, India, Spain, Türkiye, the UK and Vietnam.
- VAT or GST on fees: the rate you enter, applied to all of Etsy’s fees.
Profit = item price + shipping + gift wrap − all Etsy fees − your item cost − your shipping cost. Sales tax you collect passes through to the state, so it is not counted as income.
Etsy sets the listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap in US dollars. For shops in other currencies, the calculator only converts them when you enter today’s exchange rate. Until then it shows the listing fee separately, so it never guesses an exchange rate for you.
Worked examples
A US sale. A $25 item with $5 shipping. Listing fee $0.20, transaction fee 6.5% of $30 = $1.95, processing 3% of $30 + $0.25 = $1.15. Total Etsy fees: $3.30. With an $8 item cost and $5 actual shipping, profit is $13.70, a 45.67% margin.
The same sale through Offsite Ads. Add 15% of $30 = $4.50. Fees rise to $7.80 and profit falls to $9.20. That is why many small shops price with Offsite Ads in mind.
A UK seller. A £30 item with £4 postage and 20% VAT on Etsy’s fees. Transaction fee £2.21, processing 4% of £34 + £0.20 = £1.56, and the UK Regulatory Operating fee of 0.48% is £0.16. VAT on those fees is £0.79, for total Etsy fees of £4.72 before the 0.20 USD listing fee, which is shown separately until you enter an exchange rate.
An Indian seller. A ₹1,500 item with ₹300 shipping. Transaction fee ₹117.00, payment processing 5% of ₹1,800 + ₹25 = ₹115.00, and the 0.05% regulatory fee is ₹0.90. Indian sellers are paid through Payoneer, which may charge its own withdrawal fee.

Limits and tips
- Not included: Etsy Ads, shipping labels bought on Etsy, deposit fees in some countries, the one-time shop set-up fee and Payoneer withdrawal fees.
- Refunds: on a partial refund, Etsy recalculates the processing fee on the adjusted sale price (Etsy Payments Policy, section 9A).
- Bundle your listings wisely. A multi-quantity listing renews at 0.20 USD after each sale, so the listing fee is paid per unit sold.
- Check your own fee page. Etsy can change fees, and some depend on your account. Tick Use my own fee rates to type the rates on your statement.
- Know your break-even. Use the markup and margin calculator to set a price with the margin you want, and the break-even calculator to see how many sales cover your monthly costs.
