Can I unlock a PDF without the password?
No. If the PDF needs a password to open, you must enter the correct one. This tool cannot crack or bypass an unknown password. PDFs that open freely but block editing or printing can be unlocked without any password.
Will the unlocked PDF look the same?
It will look the same, but it becomes image-based. Each page is re-rendered as a picture, so the text is no longer selectable or searchable and the file is larger. Stripping PDF encryption without a server is only possible this way.
What if I forgot my password?
It cannot be recovered. PDF encryption is designed to resist exactly that.
Is this legal?
Only remove protection from documents you own or have permission to modify. Bypassing protection on someone else's document may be unlawful where you live.
