How to use the online scoreboard
- Click each team name at the top of its panel (Home and Away to start with) and type your own.
- In Point buttons, list the values you need, such as
1, 2, 3for basketball or6, 3, 2, 1for American football. - Set Winning score (0 = none) if the game ends at a target, for example 11 for table tennis or 21 for badminton.
- Tap the + buttons under each score as points come in. −1 takes a point away.
- Use Undo to step back through recent changes, Swap sides at half-time, and Reset scores for a new game.
What it does and when to use it
The scoreboard turns a laptop, tablet or phone into a display for school sports, quiz nights or board games. Each team gets a panel with a large score, so it can be read from across a room. The status line under the panels says who is ahead and by how much, and when a winning score is set it announces the winner and highlights that team’s panel with a trophy.
Need to decide who starts? Use the coin flip, roll for turns with the dice roller, or choose a player with the random name picker. For timed halves, run the countdown timer in another tab.
How it works
Everything happens in the page. Each button press first saves the current scores to a history of up to 100 steps, which is what Undo walks back through. Reset also saves the old score first, so an accidental reset can be undone. Scores never go below zero.
The status line compares the two scores. If a winning score is set and one side has reached it while ahead, it reads “Home wins 21–17”. Otherwise it says “Home leads by 4” or “Level at 3–3”.
Worked examples
American football. Point buttons 6, 3, 2, 1 give each team +6, +3, +2 and +1 buttons. After two touchdowns and two extra points each, the board shows 14–14 and the status Level at 14–14.
Table tennis to 11. With the winning score at 11, Ana at 11 and Ben at 9, the status reads Ana wins 11–9. A messy button list such as 1, 1, x, 0 is cleaned up to a single +1 button.
Level at the target. At 11–11 with a target of 11, nobody has won, so the status reads Level at 11–11 until one side moves ahead.
Limits and tips
- Only two teams are supported.
- Team names can be up to 40 characters.
- There is no game clock, so pair it with a timer if your sport needs one.
