How to use the packing slip generator
- Under Document, fill in the Order no., Ship date, Carrier, Tracking no. and Packages.
- Under Parties, enter your shop as From and the customer under Ship to. Add a logo if you have one.
- In Contents, add one line per product with Item, optional SKU, Ordered and Shipped quantities.
- Write a Note to customer — for example, when a missing item will follow.
- Print the slip, or download it as PDF or CSV.
What it does and when to use it
When an order leaves your shop, the person opening the box wants to check two things fast: is everything here, and if not, what is missing? A packing slip answers both. It also helps whoever packs the order, because the Packed by and Checked by lines at the bottom make a simple two-person check.
This generator is built for split shipments. Each line has both an Ordered and a Shipped column, and the summary counts items ordered, items shipped and anything still to come. The slip prints without a single price, so it is safe for gift orders.
Packing slips sit in the middle of the order trail. Your customer may have sent a purchase order first; the parcel carries the slip; the bill goes on an invoice. In India, goods moved without a sale — for job work or on approval — normally travel with a delivery challan instead.
How it works
The tool adds up the Ordered column and the Shipped column across all lines. Back-ordered items are the sum of (ordered − shipped) for every line where that difference is above zero. The summary shows “Items ordered”, “Items shipped” and, only when there is a gap, “Back-ordered” in warning colour. The SKU column appears only if at least one line has a code.
Quantities can have decimals (up to three places) for goods sold by weight or length. Paper size can be A4 or US Letter. It all runs in your browser.
Worked examples
The sample bookshop order. Two copies of a hardcover book (ordered 2, shipped 2), one bookmark set (1, 1) and one reading lamp (ordered 1, shipped 0). The slip shows items ordered 4, Items shipped: 3 and Back-ordered: 1, with a note that the lamp will ship separately at no extra cost.
US Letter paper. Choosing US Letter sets the page width to 215.9 mm (8.5 in) for printing, so the slip fits American printer paper without scaling.
Limits and tips
- Write the reason for a back-order and the expected date in the note. A count alone causes support emails.
- Keep item names the same as on your website so customers recognise them.
- The Download PDF button uses a basic font: names in non-Latin scripts print as “?”. Use Print / Save as PDF for those.
