How to use Random Picker
- Paste your list, one item per line.
- Pick, and accept the first result.
- Remove the chosen item before the next draw if repeats are not wanted.
- Selection uses crypto.getRandomValues, so it is not a predictable sequence.
- Blank lines are ignored; duplicates get proportionally more chances.
- The list stays in your browser and is not saved.
Each draw is independent, which means repeats
A pick has no memory of previous picks, so the same item can be chosen twice in a row and some items may never come up across several draws. That is correct behaviour and it is frequently not what people want. If everyone should get a turn before anyone repeats, remove each item after it is drawn, or shuffle the whole list and work down it — a different operation with a different tool.
Duplicates are how you weight a draw
Listing an item twice gives it two chances. That is sometimes a mistake — a duplicated name in a raffle — and sometimes exactly what you want, as a simple way to weight outcomes without any weighting mechanism. If a draw needs to be provably fair, show the full list before drawing so everyone can see what is in it and how many times.
Running a draw people accept
The technical fairness is the easy part. What makes a draw credible is procedure: show the list first, draw once, and take the result. Re-rolling until you like the answer is the exact failure a random picker is supposed to prevent, and people notice. For anything with real stakes or legal weight, use a documented process with a verifiable seed — a web page cannot prove afterwards what it did.
