Cup letters progress differently between systems (one inch per cup in the US and UK, two centimetres elsewhere), and brands vary. Treat these as starting points and check the brand's fitting guide.

How to use the bra size converter

  1. In Size system I know, choose the system on your current label: US, UK, EU (DE, NL, SE…), France / Belgium / Spain, Italy, or Australia / New Zealand.
  2. Enter the Band number. The help text shows the usual range for each system, for example 60–105 for EU and 0–10 for Italy.
  3. Type the Cup letter, such as C, DD or FF.
  4. Read the six equivalent sizes. Scroll down for the band chart and the cup-letter chart.

What it does and when to use it

Bra labels use different numbers for the band and different letter sequences for the cup. That makes ordering from a shop in another country, or reading a European label in a US store, confusing. The tool takes a size in one system and lists the conventional equivalent in the other five.

Because body shapes and brand cuts vary, treat the answer as the size to try first, not a guaranteed fit. For other garments, the clothing size converter uses the same “brands vary” approach, and the ring size converter and shoe size converter cover jewellery and footwear.

How it works

The tool converts your band to a US band in inches, rounds it to the nearest even size, and then applies these conventional formulas:

System Band from US band
UK same as US
EU (DE, NL, SE…) 80 + 2.5 × (US − 36)
FR / BE / ES EU + 15
IT (US − 28) ÷ 2
AU / NZ US − 20

The cup is converted by its step position. Step 1 is AA, step 4 is C, and so on. The step then takes the letter that the other system uses for that position. The US list runs to K, the UK and Australian list to H (with DD, FF and GG), and the EU, French and Italian list to K, with no double letters.

Worked examples

US 34C. The tool gives UK 34C, EU 75C, FR / BE / ES: 90C, IT 3C and AU / NZ 14C.

UK 32E. This is one step beyond DD, so the tool gives US: 32DDD (F), EU 70F and AU / NZ 12E.

An odd band. Entering US 33B gives Band 33 sits between US sizes, so it was rounded up to 34, as fitters usually do. with a suggestion to try 32 as well. The results are then for 34B, such as EU 75B.

Limits and tips

  • Conventions, not a standard. These charts are common conversions, and brand charts can differ by a band or a cup.
  • Very large cups beyond UK H or US/EU K are not in the charts. A letter outside the list gives a message showing the accepted letters.
  • Measure in both units if you are unsure. The length converter turns centimetres into inches for brand charts that use the other unit.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official international bra size standard?
No single standard is followed by all brands. The conversions here are common conventions. Brands cut differently, so the same person can wear different sizes in two labels. Use the result as a starting point and check the brand's own fitting guide.
Why do UK and US sizes stop matching after D?
Both systems use inch bands and roughly one inch per cup, but they name the larger cups differently. After D, the UK goes DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, while the US usually goes DD (also sold as E), DDD (also sold as F), G, H. So UK 32E matches US 32DDD.
Can I type E or F for a US cup?
Yes. With US selected, E is read as DD and F as DDD, because many US brands sell those cups under either name.
What are sister sizes?
Going one band up and one cup down (34C to 36B) keeps roughly the same cup volume on a looser band. The tool does not list sister sizes, but you can enter them yourself to see their equivalents.
Why does the tool round my band size?
US and UK bands come in even numbers. If you enter an odd band, such as 33, it rounds to an even size (34 here) and tells you so.
