How to use Audio Trimmer

Choose an audio file, then drag across the waveform or type exact start and end times. Press Preview to hear only the selected part, then Export WAV to download the trimmed clip.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my audio file processed?

Entirely inside your browser. The file is read with the FileReader API and decoded with the Web Audio API on your own device — it is never uploaded to ToolsRift or any other server, so even large private recordings stay local.

Which formats can I trim?

Any format your browser can decode, which normally covers MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A/AAC, FLAC and WebM. The trimmed result is always exported as an uncompressed 16-bit WAV, because that is the one format guaranteed to be written correctly without a codec library.

How precise is the selection?

You can drag on the waveform for a rough selection and then type exact start and end times in seconds with three decimal places. The cut is made at the nearest audio sample, so it is accurate to a fraction of a millisecond.
