How to use the video watermark adder

1. Drop a video onto the box or click to choose one.
2. Type the Watermark text. It starts as “© Your Name”.
3. Choose a Position from the 3×3 grid of options, from Top left to Bottom right. Bottom right is the default.
4. Set Text size (2–20% of the video’s height, default 5%), Colour (white by default) and Opacity (5–100%, default 70%). Keep Soft shadow for legibility ticked so the text shows on light and dark scenes.
5. Pick an Output format and press Add watermark. Check the clip in the player, then download it.

What it does and when to use it

A watermark tells viewers who made a clip and makes it harder to repost without credit. Photographers and video makers put a name or handle in a corner of their work; agencies and teams stamp drafts with “DRAFT” or “CONFIDENTIAL” before sending them for review. Everything happens on your device, so unreleased footage is never sent to a server to be marked.

How it works

Each frame is decoded with Mediabunny and drawn onto a canvas in a background worker. The tool then writes your text in a semi-bold system font at the chosen size, colour and opacity, adds the optional soft shadow, and passes the frame to your browser’s WebCodecs encoder. The gap between the text and the edge of the frame is 3% of the video’s height. The audio is kept.

Text height = video height × Text size %, with a minimum of 8 pixels.

Worked examples

• A credit in the corner. Text “© Studio 2026”, Bottom right, 5%, white, 70%. On a 1920×1080 video the text is 54 px tall and sits 32 px in from the bottom and right edges.
• A review draft. Text “DRAFT”, Centre, size 18%, opacity 25%. A large, faint word covers the middle of every frame, which is hard to crop out.
• A vertical phone clip. On a 1080×1920 video, 5% gives text 96 px tall, because the frame is taller. Lower the size to about 3% if that is too large for your handle.

Limits and tips

• Every frame is re-encoded, so marking a long or 4K video takes time and the result is held in memory until you save it. Try a short test clip first.
• Fonts depend on the device. The same settings can look slightly different on Windows, macOS and Android.
• AVI, WMV and FLV files are not supported here; convert them with the video converter first.
